THE NEW PLACE TO GO: UNCLE JO'S
Entertainment27 October 2017
Uncle Jo's at Northlands is the new, cool kid on the block - and it's delicious.
New to Northlands and situated in a relaxed outside location near BNZ is the humble and delicious Uncle Jo’s. If you’re all about the donburi and sushi life, this is a new place you’ve just gotta try out!
Once there you will find it caters to your tastes in donburi, sushi, making it the perfect place to dine in or take out for lunch or dinner. They even have really good coffee!
Sibling duo Cynthia and Woojin are the owners behind this new and exciting food haven. The two are both passionate about their food, knowledgeable and absolutely lovely. Alongside their warm hospitality you know you’ll be in the best hands as head chef Woojin is a professional sushi and donburi chef with 10 years of experience!
The restaurant and café is a warm environment, and sort of tucked away from the rest of the eateries at Northlands, making it a little bit special. Upon entrance, a family friendly welcome can be felt. With soft tunes playing overhead and cat themed bento boxes, there is something to please everyone.
This place is a hidden gem as its location works ideally for those who seek somewhere quieter to enjoy their meal while still conveniently attached to the mall.
What makes Uncle Jo’s stand out from the crowd, is the opportunity to choose your own toppings, sauces, and meats or tofu for your donburi. The choice between white or brown rice to the types of sauce, meat or tofu really does make every dish personalised to your unique taste, and it’s awesome seeing it prepared fresh in front of you!
Here’s a sneak peak at what meat toppings you can choose from:
- – Chicken: Teriyaki, Crispy, Ginger, Spicy, Sweet Chilli, Katsu, Popcorn.
- – BBQ Beef
- – Spicy Pork
- – Crispy Prawns or Teriyaki Salmon
- Teriyaki Tofu
Not only is the food delicious but the place itself is truly comforting. If anything, it is more like an eating lounge as the feeling of being at home is created with the vibrant natural light, music and energy once inside. I give it 5 stars, and implore you to give it a go too!
Uncle Jo’s is open from 7am to late every day, at Northlands.
