HOW TO PRINT CLASH LIKE A PRO

Having fun with your style is the whole point, right?

Be bold, experiment with prints and colours – what’s the worst that could happen? Nothing!

Here are a few tips on how to take your look up a notch and play with some mixed prints and clashing colours.

Mixing Prints 101

This is one of my favourite things to do when I’m feeling like having a little more fun with my everyday style and it’s simple. My top tip is when you print clash, make sure there is still some commonality in the two prints. They could be similar colours (so navy and white stripes with a navy-based floral), or similar themes (like clashing spots and stripes).

Here are a few of my fave combos;

  • stripe + floral
  • animal print + stripes
  • geometric + geometric

If you’re still unsure on how to print clash, start with your accessories. A stripe shoe and an animal print headband – the prints are not exactly next to each other, but you’re still rocking them in the same outfit.

Here are a few print-clash combos to get you in the mood…

SHOP THE LOOK: H&H rope handle tote bag from The Warehouse $20.00 | Rubi Shoes “Primo” flats from Cotton On $19.95 | Merchant 1948 “Malibu” pump in multi $209.90 | Colette by Colette Hayman clutch $29.99

Colour Clashing 101

This is where you take two colours that ‘traditionally’ don’t go together (whatever that means, who made up these rules anyway?!) and wear them together.

A big trend we’re seeing right now, for example, is wearing RED + PINK together – and it looks great right?

You don’t always have to default back to wearing colour with black (boring) and in fact, black doesn’t do most colours justice, so next time you’re looking for something fun to do with your look, try wearing two colours together.

Here are some combos to try;

  • red + mustard
  • lilac + navy
  • cobalt blue + orange

Have fun with these colour combos and items which you can find in-centre now!

SHOP THE LOOK: Merchant 1948 Omni dress mule $199.90 | Glassons circle woven bag $29.99 | Colette by Colette Hayman “Carlie” suedette clutch $34.99 | Pulp mustard slides from Hannahs $59.95

Mixing prints and clashing colours aren’t a scary as you think, so go on, give it a go!
