Twenty-four year old Scott (Pete Davidson) is an over achiever in everything average, and has struggled with life since the passing of his Fire Fighter dad when he was 7.

This had a huge impact on his life and ever since, has lost his way.

A man/child through and through and still living at home with Mum (Marisa Tomei), he aspires to become a tattoo artist although his work to date on his friends is less than inspiring.

Based in Staten Island, the movie follows his journey of self-discovery.

The humour is subtle and sporadic. And as a mum of a teenager, there were times it felt more like real life (haha!) than a comedy where I didn’t know whether I should laugh or cry!

Observing Scott and his gang of no hoper friends wasting their days smoking weed and gaming can seem a bit tragic as they try to navigate their way through life. Fortunately for Scott, his Mum’s new love interest shakes things up a bit.

Whilst he initially loses his way, with the help of the boys at the Fire Station he takes his first steps towards a new life. This one filled with hope.

Directed by Judd Apatow (40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Bridesmaids (comedy gold!), and at nearly 2hours 30 mins, this IS an investment of time yet worth it for a light-hearted laugh. And who doesn’t need that right now?
