THE ULTIMATE FAMILY CHRISTMAS MOVIE
Entertainment14 November 2018
The Grinch is this year's ultimate family Christmas movie - according to Tessa (10) and Ava (12)!
The Grinch from Illumination (Despicable Me and The Minions) is based on the 1957 Dr Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas and it’s this year’s ultimate family Christmas movie. Pharrell Williams narrates the movie with classic Dr Seuss rhyme and Benedict Cumberbatch is the voice of the Grinch.
Tessa here! I loved, loved, loved this movie and will watch it again and again every Christmas. It is so happy and has heaps of laugh-out-loud funny bits, especially with the Grinch’s dog Max and the reindeer. At the start the Grinch is horrible and is all out to steal and stop Christmas for the people (Whos) of Whoville using his trusty sidekick Max, but Cindy-Lou – the cutest little Who – has other plans, and wants Santa to do something extra special for her hardworking Mum. The Grinch and Cindy-Lou’s worlds collide and the love and kindness of the Whos wins the day. This film made me so happy – and now I can’t wait for Christmas! How many sleeps?!
Ava here! Like Tessa, I loved this movie too! With all of the Christmas decorations, traditions and classic Christmas carols, such as Silent Night, it really gets you into the Christmas spirit. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole movie and there are lots of funny cute moments that are perfect for kids of all ages.
I loved it when the Grinch and Max go to town and the Christmas Carollers chase the Grinch while they sing God Rest Ye Weary Gentlemen. I also loved Max. He is so loyal and his antics are super adorable and funny. On the other hand the Grinch is super mean but you see at the start of the film how and why he became this way.
When the Mayor of Whoville claims that Christmas is to be “3” times bigger it sends the Grinch over the edge and he decides he will put a stop to all their Christmas joy and steal Christmas. His selfish and nasty ploys make him look sad and miserable but brief moments of kindness shine through and in the end, you’ll absolutely love him.
The other star of the movie is Cindy-Lou, a little Who, who is so cute, good hearted and always thinks of others first. She shows us what’s really important and that family and friends are what truly make the festive season.
The end is so gorgeous and so full of Christmas love that it even made my Mum cry!
We recommend that you take your whole family out to see this to get them all in the Christmas mood.
Merry Christmas everyone!
