THAT GLAM 60's FASHION

Fashion

30 June 2016

From mod-style tailoring to slim-fitting silhouettes, the 1960’s look for 2016 is understated with an emphasis on clean lines, classic prints and soft textures. Here are a few of our favourite 1960s-inspired details:

PUSSYCAT BOWS & NECK TIES

Soft floaty neck lines are the perfect accent to crisp tailored pieces.

Pussycat bow blouses are a great way to soften a strong look. Pair with skinny jeans and a leather jacket for a modern edge or wear as part of a tailored suit for a sleek office look.

UNDERSTATED ANIMAL PRINTS

From leopard prints to oversized graphics, the prints of the 1960s are classic and subtle.

Rather than the traditional gold and black leopard print, expect to see it in softer shades of khaki, grey, black and white. A statement bag or pair of ankle boots is a great way to incorporate animal prints into an otherwise plain outfit.

CLASSIC KNITS & ROLLNECK SWEATERS

Nothing combines ‘comfort and style’ better than a chunky knit sweater.

The 1960’s style of knit is slim-fitting and mod. Turtlenecks are a popular trend of retro styling especially when paired with an A-line skirt or cigarette pant. For something a little more luxe, try an oversized roll neck-style in a sweater dress.

PRETTY PASTELS

The pastels of the season are icy and muted.

From dusty pinks to cool mint greens and smokey lilacs, at least one piece in your wardrobe should be pastel. A trench coat in a shade of pink or grey makes a nice change to the typical dark and bright coats you usually see in winter, and will surprise you with its versatility.
